Oh hey there! I’m Pauline, pleased to meet you.
I’m that blonde girl wearing a dress, usually globetrotting with a little pink suitcase.
I’m just kidding. I spend most of my days in my office in Chicago daydreaming, or reminiscing. But, when I get the chance to travel- I take it!
I began this blog at the start of my eight month stint in Europe in the spring of 2015. It started as a journal for my time studying abroad in Barcelona, but evolved into my storytelling platform.
I’ve been to 59 countries, and countless cities all over the States and beyond.
I have seen the cherry blossoms bloom in Japan and I have pet llamas on Machu Picchu. I’ve been skinny dipping during a lunar eclipse in Belize, and I’ve slept under the stars in the Sahara desert. I walked the Camino de Santiago in Spain, and trekked the Annurpurnas in Nepal.
I got my advanced Scuba diving license in the Great Barrier Reef, and learned to Tango in Argentina. And now, well now, I’m just bragging.
I love what I do, and I love sharing what I do.
This isn’t a “how-to” or a travel guide blog. It’s a storytelling blog. I won’t bore you with the details of every landmark that I’ve seen and every dish I’ve eaten. Because believe me, I’ve seen a lot and I’ve eaten a lot. Instead, I share these stories to inspire others to fly away on their own travel adventure.
Thanks for reading along.
FAQs implies that these questions have been asked frequently.
They have not.
I’ve decided to go ahead and answer all of the questions you probably weren’t going to ask anyways.
So what’s the next?
I’m currently back in Chicago, where I spend my days reminiscing about the 59 countries I’ve already explored and thinking about where the next adventure should be. I’ve been spending some time galavanting in Aruba- kitesurfing, snorkeling with turtles, and scuba diving.
Isn’t the name Pauline Flew Away a little dramatic?
That’s what my mama said. But Pauline Travels was already taken.
Anyhoo, I’m not too concerned. My blog is really more of a self-indulgent hobby so that I can keep track of my adventure.
But actually, what is your life?
My life is the narrative I have written for myself. It is the narrative that I fully endorse, and one that I am incredibly proud of. It is written with midwestern kindness and charm, fierce loyalty to the ones I love, a belief that experiences that bring joy are worth every penny, the ability to identify and express what I want out of life, and a tendency to say “YES” to whatever may come my way.
Oh, and lots of colorful dresses.
