Wild Horses Couldn’t Drag Me Away

Sometimes I like to think of my life as a movie, and therefore will proceed to describe today in the form of a screenplay.

It’s basically Eat Pray Love, except in Barcelona and I am not a middle aged divorcée. I’ve never actually seen the movie, but I’m going to assume that the plot is a direct interpretation of the title.

Emma Stone would star in the role of Pauline Kulka, a young and bright-eyed girl hopelessly falling in love with a foreign city. My first choice was Kate Hudson, because I like to think I look like her. Also, she has great abs. However, casting a 35 year old woman to play a 20 year old would probably not be the best call.

Camera fades into a panorama of Barcelona, a view which can only be seen from the top of a hill called Montjuïc.

Pauline is sitting on a wall, deeply gazing into the distance and contemplating life.

Cue “Wild Horses” by the Rolling Stones.

Wild, wild horses couldn’t drag me away

Voice over: “I stared at the city trying desperately to take it all in, as if any moment it would shatter like glass into a million little irreconcilable pieces. Suddenly, I was sad. So very profoundly sad. Everything was just so beautiful and I knew that I would have to leave it behind one day.”

I have my freedom but I don’t have much time
Faith has been broken tears must be cried
Let’s do some living after we die
